How many kinds of headset noise canceling technology do you know?
Noise Cancellation function is crucial for headsets, one is to reduce noise, avoid excessive amplification of the volume on speaker, thereby reducing damage to the ear. The second is to filter noise from mic to improve sound and call quality. There are many different ways to achieve noise cancellation. For example, ANC, ENC, CVC, and DSP. How many of them do you know?
Noise cancellation can be divided into passive noise reduction and active noise reduction.
Passive noise cancelation is also physical noise canceltion, passive noise reduction refers to the use of physical characteristics to isolate external noise from the ear, mainly through the design of the head beam of the headset, acoustic optimization of the ear cushion cavity, placing sound absorbing materials inside the ear cushion… And so on to achieve the physical sound insulation of the headset. Passive noise reduction is very effective in isolating high frequency sounds (such as human voices), generally reducing noise by about 15-20dB.
Active noise cancelation is when businesses advertise the noise reduction function of headphones: ANC, ENC, CVC, DSP… What are the principles of these four noise reduction technologies, and what is their role? Today we’re going to talk about how they work and how they differ.
ANC
ANC (Active Noise Control) The working principle is that the microphone collects external ambient noise, and then the system transforms into a reversed sound wave and adds it to the horn end, and the sound heard by the human ear is: Environmental noise + inverted environmental noise, two kinds of noise superimposed to achieve sensory noise reduction, the beneficiary is oneself.
ENC
ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) can effectively suppress 90% of the reverse ambient noise, thereby reducing the ambient noise up to more than 35dB. Through the dual microphone array, the orientation of the speaker is accurately calculated, while protecting the target voice in the main direction, Remove all kinds of interference noise in the environment.
DSP
DSP (digital signal processing) mainly targets high – and low-frequency noise. The working
principle is that the microphone collects external environmental noise, and then the system copies a reverse sound wave equal to the external environmental noise, cancelling the noise, thus achieving a better noise reduction effect. The principle of DSP noise reduction is similar to ANC noise reduction. However, the positive and negative noise of DSP noise reduction directly neutralizes each other in the system.
CVC
CVC(Clear Voice Capture) is a voice software noise reduction technology. It mainly targets the echoes generated during the call. The full-duplex microphone noise cancellation software provides call echo and ambient noise cancellation functions, which is the most advanced noise reduction technology in Bluetooth call headsets.
DSP technology (cancelling external noise) mainly benefits the headset user, while CVC (cancelling echo) mainly benefits the other side of the call.
